1. 199 Main St.
Memorial Hall - Town Hall
The cornerstone of the hall was laid on August 17, 1922 by Lieutenant-Governor H. Cockshutt, as a memorial to those who served in the Great War. On the front of the building a space was left for a clock; it still remains boarded. In 1925 a bell was placed in a belfry and it rang at 7:00, noon, 1:00, and 6:00 p.m. and for fires and special occasions. It was later deemed unsafe and removed. The West Elgin Dramatic Society performs here regularly.

21. 235 Main St. (Sunnyside) Victorian Court,
This home was built in 1889 for $4000 and tl walnut panelling and trim came from trees on tl property. Ten years after it was built, electricit was provided from the flour mill across the stre and in 1912 steam heat was also provided from the mill. H. Hollingshead was the original build and owner of the home. An apartment was added to the east of the house in 1948. The house is presently privately owned

2. St. John's United Church, Nancy St. at Mary St.
This lot was the original site of Dutton's first school, a one room frame structure. There were 150 students enrolled when it was condemned in 1886. A big celebration was held when the cornerstone of this church was laid on July 1, 1890, including a parade, bazaar, the opening of a race course and field day for men and boys.
3. 143 Shackleton Street.
The home of William & Barbara Hull, was built in the 1850 era, and moved to Dutton in 1950 from the farm of Hugh MacPhail, Hogg St. It still contains much of the original home, and is surrounded by trees, gardens and railroad memorabilia.
4. 154 Shackleton -
The Eugene Hockin Home
The first Dutton Cheese Factory operated here in 1883. The Hockin family purchased this house in 1920, and owned it until 1986. It was the first house in the village to have cement sidewalks.
5. Knox Presbyterian Church
The first chapel was opened on this site in January 1884. Until then the congregation met in the old school house and then the Baptist Church.
6. 208 Shackleton, Dr. D.C. Leitch Home
Br. Leitch purchased this house in 1885 from Br. Mills. His office is said to have been the little home to the east of the house. Br. McKishnie also lived here.

7. 217 Shackleton, Dr. Graham, Dentist
Dutton's first brick house was built by Angus and Jane McPherson. It was used as the Presbyterian Manse in 1891. Br. Arthur Graham ran a dentist office here and sold it in 1978. This lot is also the site of a historical heritage Kentucky Coffee Tree.
8. Centennial Park
This park was known as Victoria Park, then Michigan Central Railway Park. Between 1890 -1904 Br. Cascade lived and worked here.
9. 158 Main St. The Dutton Advance
Angus Mclntyre purchased the building in 1883. Many operations were here, including a doctor office from 1889-1895. The present editors are Dan and Marlene Moore.
10. 159 Main St. - Martin Joldersma
The original store here burned in 1895. The Royal Bank was here for several years until it moved to its present location beside Knechtel's.
Martin Joldersma has a law practice here.
11. 185 Main St. - Glance Block
In 1884, C.H. Glance purchased J.A. Jackson music store and used it as a wagon and carriage shop. It was rebuilt in 1891 after the old buildii burned. Top and open buggies, wagons and cutters were built upstairs and a store and repai shop occupied the downstairs. In 1907 Glance was an agent for the McLaughlin Carriage Company which is now General Motors Canadz Presently the Dutton-Dunwich Adult Club, the Daffodil Auxiliary, and the I.O.O.F. Lodge are located here.
12. 182 Main St. Dutton T.V.,
Many Dutton homes may still have steel eave trough and the "everlasting door knobs" patenti and manufactured in 1894 by A.E. White, who worked in the hardware business until he was more than 90. In 1967 Ron Hansen opened Dutton TV and Appliance. Today it is Murrays Video and Grandpa's Ice cream parlour owned by Rosanne and Brian Murry
13. 174 Main, Hockin Building
Thomas Hockin and James Pool took over the store of C. Turpain in 1882 and named it Hockin and Pool - "The People's Popular Cash Store." Fire destroyed the store in October 1885, and it was rebuilt and enlarged in February of 1886. In 1895 the store was known as T. Hockin company when James Pool went into banking full time. Don Hockin sold his family business after serving the community for over a century. Present occupants are: E & E All Occasions, Craft Plus, Sears, and a Toy Lending Library here.

14. 170-172 Main St., Goal Post/Highland Pharmacy
J.B. Crawford purchased the Brown Block south of Hockin and Pool in 1893. The store had a complete line of hardware, furniture and wallpaper. When he expanded into 170 Main, he also stocked groceries for his customers. In 1915 after J.B. died, sons' Chester and Arnold took over the store, split the business in the 1950's and each ran one part. The Crawford's were part of Dutton's business community for 98 years.
15. 265 Shackleton, Bobier / A.M. Mclntyre Home
Angus Mclntyre purchased the property in 1885 and built his home which was "Maple Lawn." The upper class people of the village were often entertained here. It is now a retirement home
16. Leitch & Shackleton-Grassmere Cottage
Meredith Conn built a grain elevator and stock yard at Concession and Main, and his home at this site. W. McLandress bought the elevator and home in the 1890's, later operated by his son Herschel.
17. Sons of Scotland Park
Officially opened on August 16, 1921 as "Caledonian Memorial Athletic Park." The Sons of Scotland, Kintyre Camp #89, owned this park until it was transferred to the Village of Dutton in 1969.
18. 255 Main St. Paterson Farm
The oldest building in the village, was first owned by Neil Paterson, who purchased the property in 1872 and operated a saw mill here for several years.
19. 243 Main St. - Woodland Hall
This home was built in 1892 by W. Hollingshead for his bride, Isabel Paterson. In 1920, the home was purchased by J.J. Sifton, the father of Ellis Sifton, who was Elgin's only recipient of the Victoria Cross.
20. 239 Main -Dunwich-Dutton Public School,
The first Dutton high school was opened here in November of 1886, even though the residents refused to pay for it. The centre block of the present building was built in front of the old one in 1927. In 1952 the high school became the public school after W.E.S.S. opened in West Lome.

22. 226 Main St.
A. J. Leitch, founder of the village, purchased this property in 1878 and built this house sometime after. In 1891, W.H. Cape, who was the cooper at the flour mill lived here.
23. The Baptist Church - Main at Currie
Built in 1877, this was the first church buildin in the village. A. J. Leitch met his future bride Lucy at choir practice here. The church was bricked, a basement put under it, and electricity added in 1900.
24. Currie at Ridge Church of the Nativity-Anglican,
Services were held in the Presbyterian chapel starting January 1884. The present Anglican church was officially opened in December 1890 by Bishop Baldwin. The bell on in the steeple ( the church still rings every Sunday, and was the original old public school bell, and is older than the church itself.
